[ Everything's piled neatly together and tied in twine, a bow on top. The bottom is made of twomoleskin notebooks as the base support with two flat steel cases making the middle tier: one and two. On top of that, a stack of post-its and then a small, tan leather square box containing a nice little surprise within.
There's no note.
She shouldn't have to leave one.
He'll know.
They're all essentials that he'll need while they're staying here. ]
I'm Tex. From what I understand you've been assigned to teach. I am the existing teacher on board, to be joined by you and one other. I was just wondering if you wanted to meet and get a tour of the classroom facilities and library.
[The call comes out of nowhere, so for a second or two Nate is just confused. Then it clicks and there's no need for Adrien to reply because he just knows.
He arrives faster than anyone should be able to, out of breath and white in the face.]
On the evening of the 17th, Nate will find four (4) bottles of Sunset Sarsparilla, a flat sugary beverage, in their mailbox. In addition, one (1) of them will have a star bottle cap, instead of the usual red ones.
[Once adult!Nate is back to his regular adult!age, Natelet will receive a sketch in return—a cartoony one of teen!Nate sitting atop a pile of treasure and artifacts (some of which he'll find someday, not that he knows that) and a birthday hat on his head.]
[ Tex has been keeping busy in the time since her EEU pod landed so disastrously on the beach. Though her clone body and her robot body are both out of commission, the natives of the planet were able to provide her with a temporary form to use. It's so lifelike, and her consciousness connects to it perfectly—in some ways she doesn't even mind the fact that it isn't hers to keep. Her initial arrival on the planet began with Tony Stark downloading her to his MID, which taught her the workings of the devices, and she soon learned to use their mobile signals to jump from one to the other, just like she can do with her bodies. So she uses this ability to her advantage—spending part of the day working on repairs on the Moira in her temporary form, and spending parts of it jumping from MID to MID and working on mapping the jungle.
The evenings have been nice, too. She's not at all shy about the hedonistic bent her behavior has taken—or at least, she's not trying to hide it. The party afforded her several chances to connect with partners, one of whom she has a complicated history with. The fact that this history boiled over into a physical confrontation not too long ago no longer seems to matter. In fact, just last night she spent a long time with this person on the beach, walking hand-in-hand and occasionally stopping to make out.
But today is another day, and though she hopes for another night like that one, right now it's time to work. She's arranged today to spend the day mapping the jungle with Nate, and she leaves her body behind, tucked safely away in a chair in the building where they're staying. Once she's transferred over, she projects her hologram long enough to get Nate acclimated to her presence. After they get situated she'll shut it off. ]
All right, are you ready? I'm going to guide you to a place about a half a klick west of the path my last host used to get into the jungle.
[Nate is on edge, right on the edge and about the fall of into the abyss, because for about a day now he's realized everyone else seems to be taking crazy pills, and no one else has noticed.
Bad things should be happening. Bad things always happen when he gets drugged, or whatever it is that happened. But so far it's just more partying, which he is absolutely lost the taste for. Since they can't get on the Moira and fly away yet, exploring the jungle is the next best thing. Maybe they'll find something that's the answer to all this nonsense.]
Yeah, sure. [Normally he'd be more weirded out, but a hologram seems comparatively normal now.] Lead the way. Also, talking about "your host" sounds creepy, FYI.
The Ingress was turned on briefly to check for damages after the crash and the requested items came through then. After sorting, Nate will receive the following items in his mailbox on the 19th:
[ Things are getting back to normal—the ship has been launched back into space and is on its way to a new destination, and Tex is back in her cloned body in the medbay. She ought to be thinking about organizing things and getting school started again, but with the weakness she finds in this body after taking it back over, she knows dealing with students is the last thing that should be on her agenda.
Normally Tex would text a message, but just holding her arm up to type into the MID is exhausting. So she knows this will be unexpected. But it's inevitable, in a way. ]
Hey. I know this might come as a surprise but I'm going to need you to take over the education department for a while.
A question for you, monsieur, when you have a moment.
[Hello, this is out of left field, but Nate is probably about the closest thing to a historian that Arno actually knows, so. He's read the books in the library and that only seems to really distress him more about what he's going to ask.]
Hey, do you have firearms or any other ranged weapons? Because there's a zombie thing on the loose - go watch that creepy video - and I think I can try to cure it. But they say not to get too close and my gunblade's definitely a close weapon, so I could use some backup.
[Which he isn't at all sure he wants the kid anywhere near, but it seems he doesn't necessarily expect that if he's talking backup. Still, Nate is wary.]
[ Between the interruptions of their daily life on the ship, and the crash afterward, she and Nathan haven't had as much contact as they used to. She misses the banter with him and with the end of all of this in sight, she thinks it may be time to reconnect. ]
Hey. Looks like the end is in sight. Any plans for when we get where we're going?
definitely going to take a really long shower hopefully get a good night's sleep on a real bed beyond that i don't know if it doesn't give us a way home it's not really the end
