[ She says the words fondly, as though she'd come home, rather than crash-landed on some random planet in the Runoff. ]

Sure, it's odd. They didn't have to welcome us the way they did. It's easy to wonder about their motivations. Whether they have ulterior motives.

[ This is echoing some of the conversations she had on the dance floor at the party—full of suspicion, yet hardly caring.

Her next statement underlines that. ]

[ They're approaching the place where they're going to be entering the jungle now. Tex pulls ahead of him a bit, partly because of the way he's side-eyeing her. ]

[ Or at least they both have the mentality of adults. She's in actuality only about five years old, but she's based on an adult human woman, so it counts. ]

[Not that she'd need to be, but Tex doesn't strike him as the grab-a-stranger type.]

[ She pauses at the edge of the trees, waiting for him to make his way to the right spot. ]

It's funny how it all worked out. It wasn't that I was looking for it, but there were a couple of situations where things just...clicked.

[ Yes, a couple. She's not even shy about saying so. ]

[ 'Reconciliation', as though it's typical for people who couldn't stand each other before doing so to then fall into bed with one another. ]

[ She blinks out her hologram. ]

—is Ryuuzaki. The pale guy, the really curious one.

[Nate recognizes both names, but it's only the first one that makes him come to a complete stop. Ryuuzaki, sure, that guys a little weird but weird people can be good in bed. But the other one?]

Wait, wait, wait. Isn't Wash that guy that you hate? You slept with him?

[ ...and the rest makes no damn sense. It never does, no matter how much she thinks about it. Which is why she hasn't really been concentrating on that part, whenever this comes up in her mind. Her voice is slower when she continues, her tone a touch bewildered. ]

...and, I don't know. It's just that he remembers me. I mean, he remembers things I don't remember about myself. It's...it's complicated.

[ Isn't this part of why she hated the way he was acting before, because of the memories of Allison he couldn't help acting on whenever she was around? Why is this part of her explanation for sleeping with him? ]

[He throws his hands up in the air. She hates him! She's been very clear about that during workday chatter! Nate's not going to claim he's never slept with anyone who hated him, but that's his bad judgment.]

Tex, you hate him! There are plenty of better people to have a fling with here. I could hook you up. You seriously don't think that's unusual?

[ There's a pause while Tex processes his reaction. They're at a standstill at the edge of the jungle and he's throwing his hands in the air. Surely there's some way to explain it that makes sense. ]

Well, I mean. Sure. But I owed him an apology for breaking his ribs when we got into that fight.

[ That's a good apology right? A nice orgasm, some kissing, some time on the beach holding hands? Tex is no pushover, and Wash has been a complete ass toward her over things that aren't her fault, but that doesn't mean she can't give him a nice time that way. ]

An apology is an "I'm sorry," maybe some flowers or a round of beers depending on the person. I've pissed off plenty of people, but I've never apology fucked any of them.

[He sighs. If this is like the other talks he's had with people, it's probably not going to go anywhere, but he can't help but try.]

Look, I'm not trying to be a dick about it. It's none of my business anyway, sleep with whoever you want to. I'm just not sure you would want to any other day.

[ She blinks her hologram back on. ]

[ She's sincerely asking, here—the ongoing nature of their arrangement is what's baffling her the most. ]

I mean, it's not like I stopped knowing he's the one who killed me. That's the thing that pisses me off the most. He killed me and he killed Church.

[That exploding noise she hears is Nathan Drake's brain.]

[ The angle of her head changes in a way where it's clear that if she was in her body she would be rolling her eyes. ]

Somehow in his infinite wisdom he decided the only way to stop the Director was to delete all of us. He waited until all the AIs were in the facility and then he set off an EMP. He didn't just kill me, and Church, either. There was Eta and Iota and Theta...

[ Does she sound upset and angry enough yet, Nate? Because Theta's deletion is one of the things that makes her really angry. ]

[Nate only understands half of that, but half is enough.]

Okay, I changed my mind. I definitely think you should end it if it is fucking the guy who killed you. This might be rich, coming from me, but that's pretty much the opposite of a healthy relationship.

[Even just a fuck buddies relationship.]

Yeah. I...

[ She really doesn't know why she didn't see this before now. ]

I think you're right.

[ She stands there for a moment, thinking. ]

Me and Ryuuzaki are okay, though, right?

[ She'd already decided early on that if it meant picking between the two, Ryuuzaki would win out. She likes what's going on too much to want to give it up. ]

I mean, even if what's going on with Wash is somehow influenced by something wrong, that doesn't mean what I have with him is. It's really good.
